Nordmann Fir, and why the needles stay on
The Nordmann is the tree most people picture at Christmas: soft needles that hold well into January, and a mild, clean scent.
It is the only tree we are selling this first year, and we deliver it around Halebank, Hale Village, Speke, Ditton, Halewood, Widnes, Runcorn, Woolton & Hunts Cross, Huyton & Roby, and Whiston, Prescot & Rainhill.
Will it drop its needles?
The needles are soft, they hold well into January, and the grade we buy is sorted for very low needle drop. Four to five weeks in a water-holding stand, away from radiators, is what to expect indoors. We cut the trunk fresh before it leaves us, so stand it in water the same day.
What premium grade actually means
Growers sort their trees into grades. Premium is the top one: densely needled, very low needle drop, and cut fresh rather than held in cold store. It is not our word, it is what the grower writes on the label. We buy that grade and no other, which costs us more and is part of why we are not the cheapest.
What arrives at the door
Trees are netted for carrying and we do not unwrap them before delivery, so give yours an hour or two to drop and settle once the netting is off. Real trees vary and no two are identical. It will be the same type, height and grade as the one you ordered.
Sizes, and what they cost
Five sizes, 4ft to 8ft, at first season launch prices from £38.00. Those are collection prices: delivery is free in Halebank and Hale Village, £4.50 elsewhere, and collection from Halebank is free. The shop page shows the live stock for each size and works out the ceiling height that size needs, so you can check it against the room before you choose.
Keeping it fresh once it is up
A stand that holds water matters more than anything else you do. We sell water-holding stands for £25.00 with a tree. Keep the stand topped up with water, and keep the tree away from radiators and out of direct sun.
Our freshness and quality promise
If your tree arrives damaged, shedding badly or is not the tree you paid for, message us within 48 hours and one of us will bring a replacement on the next delivery date or refund you in full, delivery charge included. No forms, no photographs required, no argument.
Why only the one tree this year
This is our first year. We are buying from one grower, all premium grade Nordmann Fir, because we would rather do one properly than five badly. If you came looking for something else, tell us and it decides what we buy in next year.
